There are children who don’t have a home to return to during Christmas, New Years, and even tonight. This is a story about Sakura who reach out to the children, to blossom a flower of happiness from the tears of despair.

The “House of Hummingbirds” is where children who lost their faith in their parents gather to live. Sakura starts working at the “House” as a food staff, which is managed by lawyer Mitani, a rookie lawyer Kawabata, and a former teacher Nabeshima who is now the head of the “House”.
However, the children of the “House” directly deny her beliefs as they tell Sakura, “Parent and child together makes an Oyakodon? Why in the world do we have to be together? Don’t make me laugh.”
Nabeshima explains that these children have never been asked what meal they want to eat, therefore has no idea of the joys and desires in eating. Meanwhile, Sakura makes effort to tell the children that there are trustable adults in this world through food.
Will Sakura be able to keep on reaching out to the children?


クリスマス、お正月、そして今夜も帰る家のない子どもたちがいる。
絶望の淵で流す涙が、幸せの種になるように―
手を差し伸べるさくらと子どもたちの物語。

きっかけは、さくら（真矢ミキ）の長男・悠平が殺害された事件を機に知り合った三谷弁護士（名取裕子）。犯罪被害者家族と加害者弁護士、という関係だったが、子どもの人権を守るため奔走する三谷の姿に共鳴、信頼する間柄に。

ハチドリの家は、三谷とその下で働く、新人弁護士・川端哲也（柄本時生）、教師から転身したホーム長・鍋島真之介（相島一之）の3人で運営する。そこに、食事スタッフとして参加することになったさくらだが…

「何が親と子一つになって親子丼だよ。何で一つになんなきゃいけねえんだよ、マジありえねえ」
さくらは、これまでやってきことを真っ向から否定されてしまう。

「あの子たちは小さい時から何食べたい？と聞かれた経験が、ほとんどないんです」
鍋島の説明通り、食べる喜びはもちろんのこと、自分が食べたいものすら分からない子どもたち。
そんな中、料理を通じて信じられる大人がいることを伝えようと奔走するさくら…

これっぽっちも親を信じられない、自ら親を捨てた子どもたちが暮らす「ハチドリの家」。
果たしてさくらは、子どもたちに手を差し伸べ続けることができるのか…
