There is prejudice and rejection against children who experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, and drug addiction. As society becomes more complex, the number of children with no home to return to continue to grow, but there still isn’t enough places to protect them.

Nosy “Aunty” Sakura confronts difficulties with a compassionate heart! A place of temporary refuge, “The Shelter” is for children who, for a variety of reasons, cannot be raised by their families. Sakura believes if she can fill their stomachs, she can heal their hearts. She became a cook at the “House of Hummingbirds” and taught them about love and hope through her cooking.

Two years later, Sakura works as a staff member at a new shelter, the "The Second Hummingbird House". Meanwhile, Yukino, a new lawyer, comes to the shelter. However, Yukino's enthusiastic love for children sometimes causes intense friction, and she feels severely hurt as the children gets away. Sakura finds her old self in Yukino, and gently snuggles up to her.

九十九さくらは「空っぽのお腹を満たせばココロも満たされるはず」という信念のもと、子どもシェルター
「ハチドリの家」の食事スタッフになり、食べることを通じて子どもたちに愛と希望を伝えてきた。
あれから2年―

さくらは、新たに作られた子どもシェルター「第２ハチドリの家」でスタッフとして働いていた。
父親から虐待を受けながらも、その父を見捨てることができない少女に、母親に殺されかけ九死に一生を得た少年。そして父親の虐待を裁判で訴えた幼い少女。そこには、傷ついた子どもたちが次々とやってくる。
「子どもたちが傷ついた羽根を休めるように。そして未来にむかって歩みだせるように。大人はその手助けをするだけ…」 様々な経験を経て、さくらの子どもたちに向かう思いも深まっていた。
そんな中「第２ハチドリの家」に、新米弁護士の宮部雪乃がやってくる。雪乃の子どもたちへの熱心すぎる思い入れは、時に激しい摩擦を起こす。子どもたちは返って離反し、激しく傷つく雪乃。そんな姿にかつての自分を見出し、優しく寄り添うさくら。
更に、さくらは加害者である親たちにも向き合い、心の奥底にある思い扉を開いていく。
