嘘解きレトリック

The tag team of an impoverished, debt-ridden detective with a sharp, analytical eye and a girl with the strange ability to “hear lies” crack cases in this retro-modern back-alley sleuthing drama.

In 1926, Kanoko Urabe, a girl growing up in the countryside, has had the ability to hear when people are lying for as long as she can remember. However, the villagers shun her because of her power. Kanoko’s mother, Fumi Urabe, tries to protect her, but Kanoko leaves the village, not wanting to trouble her mother any longer. She winds up in Tsukumoyacho, a town awash in lies. In search of work, Kanoko goes to a cafe called “Rose,” which had a help wanted ad posted looking for waitresses urgently, but the waitress there, Lily , turns her down, saying that the position has just been filled. With nowhere to go, Kanoko collapses from hunger, and the head of the Iwai Detective Office, Soma Iwai, who was coincidentally passing by, stops to help her. Eventually, Kanoko becomes Soma’s assistant, and together they solve many difficult cases as she looks for a place where she can belong..

新宿野戦病院

Shinjuku Field Hospital

A new, entertaining emergency medical drama on the theme of “life” set in Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku!

The story takes place at St. Magokoro Hospital, secluded in the back streets of Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku.
Unlike at other hospitals, owing to the character of the area, the patients who come to receive emergency care at St. Magokoro often come from backgrounds with special circumstances, and they run the gamut from homeless people and foreigners to hosts and prostitutes. Then a mysterious woman named Yoko Nishi Freeman suddenly arrives in Kabuki-cho. She is a former military doctor with American citizenship. Born in New Orleans, she moved to California with her mother at the age of fourteen. She would later get into medical school, receiving her license to practice at the age of twenty-eight. She has thirteen years of experience working in a military hospital. On one battlefield, Yoko came across a wounded soldier among the ruins of a city. When he was on the verge of death, he used the last of his strength to entrust her with an important item and a certain message. She has come to Japan to keep her promise to the fallen soldier.
Yoko becomes someone who cheerfully shines a light on the various dark happenings in Kabuki-cho. She also meets Toru Takamine, a cosmetic dermatologist who works at his elderly uncle’s hospital.
The little run-down hospital has been left behind as Kabuki-cho changes with the times, yet it quietly continues to exist. For the people who live in the neon-lit nights of a town where human desires twist and turn, the small lights of the hospital offer a haven for their hearts. Together with the unique staff of doctors who work there, the hospital will go on bringing light to the city.
