The mismatched pair of a compassionate retro-style police inspector and his cool modern-style partner take on unsolved cases that are about to go cold in this humanist mystery series.
With the removal of statutes of limitations, criminals now have to keep on running forever. This reform in the law, which means that anyone who is caught will definitely be prosecuted, is ideal for the families of the victims...or it should have been. However, reality isn’t so simple. In the past, cases that were getting close to the statute of limitations were often taken up by the media, which could lead to new information suddenly coming to light. Now, without that excitement, almost all such cases go cold. When the statute of limitation for murder was 15 years, many members of the victims’ families would use that as a turning point to move on, but now they have to carry that incident with them for the rest of their lives, and some find that exhausting.
There is a department, OKURA, which handles cases which have remained shelved as a result of abolishing the statute of limitations. Two investigators there, Senju Hidaka, a retro-style investigator with a deep sense of compassion, who believes in the importance of hitting the pavement, and Toshiki Fuwa, a cool modern-style detective who focuses on saving time and being efficient, solve cases on the verge of going cold. The pair investigate using the handful of clues that were left by investigations performed at the time of the incident, along with new tips that have come in after a long time. Sometimes working with their minds, sometimes with their bodies, their investigations will help time to start moving forward once again for those who have been affected by the incidents...

A genius meteorologist saves people from natural disasters!
Kiyohara is a researcher with the Japan Meteorological Agency Meteorological Research Institute. With his trademark good looks and refreshing smile, he even makes appearances on the weather program. However, there is another side to Kiyohara, one that you wouldn’t imagine from his outward appearance... He is fighting hard as a member of SDM (Special Disaster Management) to save people from natural disasters caused by the weather. With the abundance of such disasters in recent years, SDM was established as a team under the direct authority of the Cabinet Office with the goal of preventing the expansion of human losses that can result from a slow response. Their leader, Kiyohara, is a genius at meteorology. He is able to use his natural intelligence and his sense of the raw weather on the ground to analyze vast quantities of weather data from a multitude of angles. Even in tense situations where lives are at stake, he is able to stay one step ahead of things. However, his sharp tongue can sometimes earn him the enmity of those around him... Even so, Kiyohara’s passion for saving lives and his diligence eventually win over his teammates, and he builds the ultimate SDM team with those who sympathize with him. But there is also a mystery Kiyohara has been pursuing all this time... He was driven to save people using meteorology because of the death of the one he loved most. Therein lies the story’s greatest mystery, and it will be unveiled over the course of the series!

To celebrate the theatrical release, Ichikei’s Crow, starring Yutaka Takenouchi returns to screens for the first time in a year and a half in a brand new special drama!
Set in Kumamoto, one year after Michio Iruma was transferred out of “Ichikei”. Whilst Michio is busy vigorously conducting trials at the Kumamoto District Court 2nd Branch, a case of grievous bodily harm arises, revolving around a young man named Haruto Suwa who intervened in a gang fight and is in critical condition. The suspect, Wataru Uchida, pleads guilty to the charges, and on the surface, it appears to be a cut and dry case that will result in a suspended sentence. However, as the investigation proceeds, it becomes clear that Wataru initially denied the charges during his police interrogation. Sensing there is more to the story and doubting the suspects’ guilt, Michio activates his authority and begins his own investigation.
Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Yoshio Komazawa (Fumiyo Kohinata), the head judge of “Ichikei”, is deliberating over a personal injury case between employees of the large company "Hoshizumi Holdings." The employees belonged to factions of the next company president candidates, and the case resembles a war by proxy. The parties involved, Shigeyuki Oyabu (Kazuki Kitamura) and Natsuko Shimazu (Anne Nakamura) only care about ending the trial as quickly as possible, which makes Komazawa even more irritated.
From these two completely unrelated cases, an unexpected connection arises. When things finally come to trial, what dreadful heartbreak and deep darkness is hidden at the center of these cases?

Ichikei’s Crow – The Criminal Court Judges

The protagonist of this story is Michio Iruma, an unorthodox criminal court judge who takes it upon himself to verify crime scenes, to uncover the truth of incidences, in order to ensure that there are absolutely no false accusations. With a beard and casual clothes, there’s this sense of a laid back atmosphere about him, often speaking out in a slow manner. He is far from the image of an uptight judge, but a unique one feared by both lawyers and prosecutors for his free observation and an inquisitive mind, that is free from any ties, prejudices, or preconceptions. On the other hand, for criminal court judges usually in charge of around 250 cases at any given time, one of their major missions is to handle cases quickly and efficiently. So, the members around him are always puzzled by Michio, who digs deeper into cases at his own pace, almost as if none of this affects him. In fact, Michio has a unique background as a former lawyer.
