A gentle tale of healing from the trauma of an earthquake-tsunami disaster
Ohbayashi Kenji is a taxi driver. He became one after the Great East Japan Earthquake, hearing the story of how the souls of those who died sometimes take taxi rides. But after 13 years, he has yet to see his missing wife Sanae or daughter Kanae in his cab. One day, a young girl gets in, and the tune she hums jolts Kenji's memory. It is a tune that his wife, a music teacher, and daughter played multiple times together before the disaster. Kenji tracks the young girl down, desperate for any connection he can forge with the family he longs for. The fateful meeting turns into a journey to try to revive the song by seeking out Sanae's musical mentor as well as other musicians from her past.
