After a long and dedicated career, Konosuke Hirayama looks forward to a peaceful retirement with his wife, Fumie. That is until he finds out that Fumie has a secret dream: she wants to open a book café, and she intends to use his retirement allowance to fund it, despite Konosuke’s strong disapproval. Fumie’s concerted efforts to persuade him fall flat, and soon, other family members begin to worry about the future of the elderly couple. Just when things seem uncertain, an unexpected event turns everything upside down.
