Kinuka Saijyo (44) (Hikari Ishida) took advantage of her husband Makoto’s (46) father’s death to move into the house that her father-in-law left behind in Kamakura. Her mother-in-law Chizuko (56), the father-in-law’s second wife, had a wild and flashy personality that made Kinuka uneasy, but she hoped to open a flower arrangement classroom, and she also hoped her family of four could relax in the spacious house.

鎌倉の一軒家。
西條衣香（石田ひかり）は、夫・誠（勝村政信）の父の死を機に、義父が遺した鎌倉の洋館に、夫と娘、息子と引っ越してきた。
義父の後妻である姑・千鶴子（高畑淳子）に強く勧められたためだ。
同じ敷地内の別棟とはいえ、自分とは違ったタイプの派手で奔放な姑と同じ敷地内で暮らしていくことに不安はあったが、長年の夢だったフラワーアレンジメント教室を自宅サロンで開けること、一家四人が広々と過ごすことができる念願の住処だ。
